Om Swastyastu – Welcome – Selamat Datang – Willkomen – Sugeng Rawuh – Szia

This personal web site (best viewed with Mozilla Firefox) is about our daughter Amara and sometimes about me (Ayu) or my husband Volker. As  we currently live in Budapest, Hungary I’ll write about Budapest as well. I write in bahasa Indonesia (that is my mother-tongue, my parents come from Indonesia) and  (babbling) in English . Sometimes also in German.

Amara is a short form of Amaranggana which means angel which she is…. hmmmm not most of the time though. She is currently visiting elementary school at Europaschule here in Budapest.

Volker was born in Frankfurt and has one younger sister. He is an Executive Chef in a hotel in Budapest, but to my chagrin  he doesn’t rarely cook at home …he prefers to read or play his strategic PC game for hours, but not since we have Amara though (I mean the game playing for hours, not the cooking).  Being a typical Hesse – as he often said so himself – Volker is sometimes cynical and also has his black humors, which makes some people who don’t know him well enough think that he is mad or too serious. But he is actually very funny and easy going once you get to know him.

I was also born in Frankfurt as the first born of four. I have a balinese name because my father comes from Bali and I’m so proud of it that I hypen my family name after we married, which Volker loves to taunt me with. For now I am a full time mom who love to communicate with people … being an open, easy going and ‘talkative’ person (or to put it in indonesian ‘cerewet’).  In my spare time I like to read, watch movies, surfing in the cyber world (of course) and I also like to do cross stitch and lately I’m into baking and cooking too. I put a kitchen section here to share recipes I tried in my small kitchen.

Most of our friends keep ask how we met. Well…we met in Ajman in United Emirate Arab many years ago when we were soul searching there. I’m kidding, we used to work together here. And to make long story short, we fell in love and got married in Bali, you can look up our picture in our photo album.

This site  is dedicated to all of our family and friends around the world…especially you!
