or as may landlady said, the usual way in Hungary.
An interesting end to the year 2009 in Budapest, on 29th my neighbour came and told me that there is water leaking from our apartment (Amara translated all this for me, I’m so proud of her!). We checked but thankfully nothing leaked from the washing machine, bath up etc. Until we saw a bit damp wall on the corner of our storage room. So the neighbour told me she will call somebody and will be back sometimes during the day (it was in the morning). Imagine my surprise when she came back after about 30 minutes with two handyman! After weeks of despair to find one the last time when we needed one, I found this quite a nice surprise.
So, how did they find the source?
(I’m going inside their brain:) First, dismantle the bathtub. Dry. Hmm….so maybe the source isn’t in the bathroom…let check the storage room again and let us make a hole there….why not? First we have to remove the built in shelves. Easy just open some bolt and take it out, after awhile…uppss…didn’t see that the shelves are higher than the door…shoot! now I have to strip down all the pieces. I don’t need to be careful, this is not my home so I just hit the washing machine and break the front glass, no problem! Finally all shelves are out, dig the hole! After awhile… hmmm don’t need to finish here, guess the problem is in the bathroom after all. Let’s go an make another hole in the bathroom wall. Craziness I tell you! 
Finally after they knocked some spots…they found the source! As my neighbour told me this has happened before, the water pipe was never changed since maybe before Gorbachev was even born, it need to be replaced with a new one. What they did was just cover the leak with something, an emergency solution.
They came again on Tuesday and change the pipe, BUT only from my apartment to my downstairs neighbour!!! Craziness I told you! They should change from top to bottom. I am aware that next time it will be leaking from upstair into our apartment.
The really annoying thing was/is… they still didn’t put the bathtub together and now the washbowl is also not attached to the wall. I asked when they will finish all the mess. Answer was: we all have to wait for the insurance company to take the picture sometimes next week, which I doubt because my landlady told me no body at the insurance company picked up the phone.
This is driving me crazy because now I have holes in the storage room and bathroom. I have all the stuffs from storages room in my bedroom and all the stuffs from the bath in our study. And we all have to share one tiny bathroom.
I really hope that all this will be fixed by the end of this month?
