Another bad experience in Budapest
So my washing machine is making weird noises … since this machine is quite new…(only a year old) I don’t think this is a major defect.
What to do? Asked my hubby to ask one of the engineering guy to come and check… it took him 3 days plus me 1 day to got someone. He checked and told me that a specialist has to check it, then he called someone and this person said I have to pay 30.000 HUF (100 EUR) then he will come, pick up the machine and bring it back in about one week. I said OK and set an appointment.
Friday afternoon… between 4-6 pm…. no body came…..hmm… I called and…I forgot….I don’t speak Hungarian…so I have to call my cleaning lady for help to talk to this person….long story short….she told me he will come in one hour, maybe. I said, I have to go at 6.30 so could you please tell him to come Saturday or Monday? Then after awhile she called :”I’m sorry, he is not coming today, no Saturday, no Monday…sometime next week…problem….sorry….”
Monday: my hubby asked one of his colleague to call again, this time he got a different answer : “Because you bought the machine in Germany, the warranty is not valid in Hungary.”
Tuesday: after I explained that I don’t care about the warranty because I’m going to pay for the service we got this answer: “Beacuse you bought the machine in Germany, there is no warranty for Hungary. So we won’t repair your machine at all!”
Wednesday: thinking that it might be a miscommunication. I asked my Hungarian friend who speaks fluent German to call for me. And she told me: “In Hungary if your machine is broken, you just send it back and then they will give you a new one (if it’s still in warranty time) however since you are willing to pay for the service they will come tomorrow between 2-4 pm to check your machine”
Note: It was always the same phone number (the service number of my machine) they were calling….with different results…. Meanwhile I also asked my neighbour if she knew some repairman, which she did, unfortunately he couldn’t repair my machine.
Thursday: my hungarian friend also came to our apartment and waited for the service people….but at 2.15 she started to call again to confirm the appointment. And…. ta ta…. they will come later maybe between 6-7 pm. After more calls and attitudes….they won’t come at all because, you know, the car still in the garage…and they will call tomorrow between 10-12 am to give me a new appointment.
So my friend told me, here you ALWAYS have to call again and again to confirm an appointment otherwise it won’t happen. I don’t understand the attitude, better no work than work for less money. But, better a bit money than no money at all, especially in this crisis today, right?
I mean….what is wrong with this people?? Don’t you want to earn some money?
I actually try really hard to adjust with a lot of things here but the services here, any kind of services here are ….. there is no word to describe it
PS. so yesterday I went to Media Markt and bought a new washing machine to be delivered tomorrow between 8am-8pm. I just wished I had done this directly 2 weeks ago just skip the heart aching search for a repairman

Lah memang membingungkan kok, njelehi. Ini boso inggris biar temen londo terutama wong hungaria bisa ngerti nek aku gondok setengah mati.
Ternyata Hungaria walaupun sudah masuk Uni eropa cara berpikirnya masih kalah sama orang Indo. Jarang ada yg mau maju, masih terbawa cara pikir jaman komunis, kerja gak kerja tetep dibayar…aneh to?

Kasihan Yu!!! Aku juga Nggak kuat tuh klo pekara bad service. Kemarin aku punya washing machine ngadat jg biasanya By, bojoku, bisa dandanin sendiri tp dia blg panggil service guy aja, aku tlp n then aku tanya kpn bisa dtg, aku cerita bhw aku punya anak 3 n I need to do my laundry ASAP. He said ok, tomorrow. Makanya di indo aja yg lbh medhingan dr Hungary, aku aja nggak betah. Sorry you have to go through that, just for that after about 6 months or so you should call the same number n tell that guy that your machine is acting up so now hehas to pick it up n deliver you a new one. Hhehehheehhe
